Our freedoms are under assault today. They won’t defend themselves. Winning free and fair elections is key to defending them. And elections? They don’t win themselves. So I train county chairs across the U.S. in electing Democrats who will fight to preserve them, and together help build a better tomorrow.

Even in this digital age, our experience and knowledge are not guaranteed. My mission is not simply to pass along what we've learned, but to enable the next generation to take our places. That’s how our Democratic Party grows and thrives.

Based in Asheville, Tom Sullivan has coordinated Democratic Party Get-Out-The-Vote efforts in NC-11 and Buncombe County since 2006. He has served in elected roles at the precinct, county, and state party levels, and trained Democrats across the country in GOTV operations.

Tom writes daily for a national, L.A.-based political website and his free For The Win planning guide for county chairs is in its fifth edition and in 50 states. His political network extends from coast to coast.

Tom has been a daily contributor to Heather “Digby” Parton’s national progressive blog Hullabaloo since 2014. A former columnist for the Asheville Citizen-Times, his writing has appeared at Huffington Post, Crooks and Liars, Bill Moyers & Company, Campaign for America’s Future, and AlterNet.

Within a three week span in 2019, Tom was sickened by Legionnaires’ Disease while working the NC-11 booth at the Mountain State Fair, former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper called him by accident—twice, and Donald J. Trump threatened to sue him.
